Abstract:

The aim of this research is to determine the in-service training needs of Turkish teachers. The research was carried out according to the scanning model. An in-service training needs questionnaire was applied to 98 Turkish teachers. Data obtained from the questionnaires analyzed by the SPSS 23.0. program. The data were analyzed using descriptive and comparative statistics based on three themes: field knowledge, professional knowledge, and general knowledge. The results showed that participants needed training in effective communication and reading, writing, and speaking methods and techniques. It is also understood that teachers want to improve themselves in diction and body language. An increase in digitalization and the widespread use of technology in education parallel with the COVID-19 pandemic, in-service training demands of both female and male teachers on information and communication technologies have also increased. There was no significant difference in the in-service training needs of Turkish teachers according to gender and experience. In general, it can be said that teachers are open to change and want to update their knowledge. In the research, it has been suggested to plan in-service trainings by determining the training needs of teachers at regular intervals.
