Bütün toplumlar kendi oluşturdukları kültürel seviyeleriyle çevreyi algılar ve onu anlamlandırır. Bu algılama üzerinden bütün toplumlar yaşamış oldukları çevrede bazı değişiklikler meydana getirirler. Bu değişim hem fiziki hem de beşeri coğrafya içerisinde kendini gösterir. Toplumlar söz konusu değişiklikleri farklı gerekçelerle yaparlar ve yaşadıkları ortamla insan arasında bir bağ oluşur. Doğal ve beşeri ortamda oluşturulan bu bağ hangi düzeyde ve nitelikte olursa olsun adlandırmayla görünür hale gelir. Türkiye’de yerleşme adlarına yönelik yapılan çalışmaların büyük bir kısmı kentsel yerleşmeler ve köy merkezleriyle ilgilidir. Kırsal yerleşmeler sadece köy yönetsel alanına merkezlik eden yerleşmelerden oluşmamaktadır. Çok yerleşmeli köy yönetsel alanlarında birden fazla kırsal yerleşme yer almaktadır. Köy merkezi dışındaki kırsal yerleşmelerin toponim özellikleriyle ilgili literatürde yeterli çalışma bulunmamaktadır. Bu araştırma söz konusu alandaki boşluğu gidermeye yönelik katkı sunmak için köy yönetsel alanlarındaki tüm yerleşmeleri kapsamına alan öncü çalışmalar arasında yer almaktadır. Çalışma, Bayramören (Çankırı) ilçesindeki köy yönetsel alanlarında yer alan kırsal yerleşmelerin adlandırılmasında etkisi olan faktörlerin neler olduğunu ortaya çıkarmayı hedeflemiştir. Bu hedefe uygun olarak ilgili literatür değerlendirilmiş, saha çalışmaları yapılarak başta muhtarlar olmak üzere yöre sakinlerinden bilgiler temin edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda Bayramören ilçesindeki 74 kırsal yerleşmenin %34’ünün beşeri, %31’inin yer, yön ve konum, %27’sinin de doğal coğrafya özellikleriyle ilgili olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
All societies perceive and understand the environment with their own cultural levels. Through this perception, all societies make some changes in the environment they have lived. This change manifests itself both in the physical and human geography. Societies make such changes for different reasons and a connection is formed between the environment in which they live and the human. This connection created in the natural and human environment becomes visible by the name, regardless of what level and quality it is. Most of the work on settlements in Turkey is related to urban settlements and rural centers. Rural settlements are not made up of settlements that are centered only on the rural area. More than one rural settlement is located in the multi-located rural administrative areas. There is not enough work in the literature about the toponym characteristics of rural settlements outside the village center. This research is among the leading studies covering all settlements in rural administrative areas to contribute to the removal of the emptiness in the area concerned. The study aimed at revealing what factors affect the name of rural settlements located in the rural administrative areas of the Bayerören (Cankırı) district. According to this goal, the relevant literature was evaluated, the field work was carried out and information from the local residents, including the master's, was provided. According to the study, 34% of the 74 rural settlements in the Bayramören district are human, 31% are related to location, direction and location, and 27% are related to natural geographic characteristics.

Rural settlements do not consist only of central settlements in the village administrative area. There are many rural settlements in multi-settled village administrative areas. There are not enough studies in the literature about the toponym characteristics of rural settlements except village centers. This research is one of the pioneering studies covering all settlements in village administrative areas to contribute to the rural settlement names research. The study aimed to reveal the factors that affect the naming of rural settlements in the village administrative areas in the Bayramören (Çankırı) district. Literature was evaluated that could help determine the origin of rural settlement names in village administrative areas. Besides, trips and observations were made and information was also obtained from mukhtar and residents. As a result of the study, it was determined that 34% of 74 rural settlements in the Bayramören district are related to human geography, 31% to place, direction, and location, and 27% to natural geography features.
