Abstract:

This collection is a synthesis of the literature for ergotherapy interventions carried out in intensive care. Every year, millions of people who are displaced from intensive care units face newly acquired cognitive disorders and/or functional disabilities. Ergotherapy involves the work of patients in intensive care towards daily life activities such as nutrition, clothing, early mobilization, ambulance; cognitive processes consisting of advanced executive functions such as memory, attention, problem solving and fulfilling multiple tasks. To reveal a targeted behavior, increasing awareness and awareness, optimizing awareness and participation in early mobility activities are the objectives of intensive care ergotherapy interventions. In literature, ergotherapy interventions to these goals show significant results. But in this regard, studies that include that ergoterapists have shown activities in the near past are insufficient. In the intensive care unit, future research is needed to clarify the specific interventions and roles of ergoterapists and the effectiveness of these interventions. In Turkey, the newly developing ergoterapy and ergoterapistry profession is active in hospitals’ intensive care units is a new situation in the world. This article is the first edition of this book written in our country.
