Objective: The purpose of this study was to use metaphor to expose the perceptions of fourth-year nursing students who studied the “Ethics in Nursing” course on the concept of ethics. Methods: The study used phenomenology design, which is a qualitative research method. The data collection phase of the study was carried out in April-May 2021 with the participation of 39 students who took the “Ethics in Nursing” course, which is the eighth semester course of the nursing department from a state university. The data were collected using the Student Information Form and the metaphor sentence “Ethics is like … because…”. The data collection phase was carried out online. Results: Since there were no students whose answers did not contain metaphors, the study was completed with 39 nursing students. The metaphors produced for the perception of “ethics” were gathered in four categories. These categories are guidance, the whole made up of parts, individuality and vulnerability/strength. Conclusion: It has been determined that nursing students have predominantly positive metaphors for the perception of “ethics”. The diversity of students' metaphors regarding the concept of ethics clearly reflects the contribution of this course to students' critical thinking.
