Background: Gestational diabetes (GDM) that risk situations seen in pregnancy may also affect women's breastfeeding status and breastfeeding self-efficacy as the mother and baby's health may affects. Objectives: GDM in women with and without are to compare breastfeeding results and the breastfeeding self-efficacy. Methods: It’s a descriptive study. Who gave birth in a hospital in the province of Izmir, Postpartum time is at 48 hours A total of 194 mother who gave birth in hospitals depended to health ministry participated. The Introduction and obstetric characteristics of form and Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Perception Scale was used for data collection. For data analysis on the number, percentage, mean, chi-square and t test were used. Results: Mothers with GDM was determined diagnosis of GDM in a previous pregnancy (p = .001a ). Babies of mothers with GDM were found to be lower APGAR scores (p = .000). Healthy mothers performed the first breastfeeding to mothers with GDM after birth at an earlier time (p = .00). Babies of mothers with GDM more sleepy (p = .00) and restless after breastfeeding (p = .00), GDM mothers were found to have more problems with breastfeeding (p = .023). Healthy mothers breastfeeding self-efficacy scores was determined to be high (p = .00). Conclusion: GDM can cause low breastfeeding self-efficacy by adversely affecting laktogenezi, first breastfeeding, neonatal neurobehavior. Risk situations, as GDM should be considered that negatively where problems concerning breastfeeding and breastfeeding mothers' self-sufficiency in this case. Therefore, at-risk groups such as GDM should be planned from the antenatal period mothers breastfeed initiatives to improve the self-sufficiency
