So many results that aren't mine?

Abstract:

In the study it was aimed to determine views and thoughts of mathematic teachers about Curriculum of Elementary Level Mathematic Course which has been in practice since 2005; and to evaluate the program through these views. Teachers’ opinions were evaluated under the sub-dimension of acquisition, content, process and evaluation. It was tested whether these opinions differ according to the variables of gender, length of service and average classroom size. In addition, teachers’ opinions and suggestions regarding the entire program were investigated. Description-survey method was used in the study. “Elementary Mathematic Program Assessment Scale” (IMAPDÖ) which was developed by the researchers was used as data collection tool. The scale was applied on 52 elementary level mathematic teachers who served in elementary schools in city centre in 2009-2010 school year. Descriptive statistics and two-way ANOVA test were used in the analysis of the quantitative data collected. On the other hand, descriptive analysis method was used for the analysis of the qualitative data. Results obtained from quantitative data show that although teachers have positive view on the program in general; they found the anticipated duration for nearly all of the sub-dimensions inadequate; while the views do not differ according to gender and average class size; they differ according to professional seniority and senior teachers have more positive views about the program. According to the results obtained from qualitative data; teachers stated that the strongest side of the program is being student-centered and the weakest side is that the anticipated duration is inadequate.
