Bu çalışmada ortaokul öğrencilerinin matematik algıları çizim (resmetme) tekniği ile ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında 2017-2018 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında Ordu il merkezinde öğrenim görmekte olan ve 2017 yılında yapılan TEOG sınavı sonuçlarına göre başarı sıralamasın-da üst, orta ve alt gruplarda yer alan ortaokullardan seçi-len 682 öğrenci ile çalışılmıştır. Çalışma nitel olarak desen-lenmiş ve nitel araştırma yaklaşımının yöntemlerinden biri olan olgu bilim yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Verilerin ele alınarak yorumlanmasında içerik analizi tekniğinden yararlanılmış ve bu kapsamda öğrenci çizimleri beş ana kategori ve on altı alt kategori altında değerlendirilmiştir. Sözü edilen ana kategoriler Duyguları ifade eden/içeren çizimler, Öğrenci görüşlerini/fikirlerini içeren çizimler, Matematiğin yaşamla ilişkisine yönelik çizimler, Okul ortamına yönelik çizimler ve Matematiksel nesneleri içeren çizimler’dir. Çalışma sonu-cunda öğrencilerin yapmış oldukları çizimlerde sırasıyla matematiğe yönelik görüşlerine, duygularına, matematiksel nesnelere, okul ortamına ve matematiğin yaşamla ilişkisine yer verdikleri görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin genel olarak ma-tematiğe yönelik görüşleri ve duyguları olumlu olmakla birlikte, öğrenme süreçleri ile ilgili görüş ve duygularının olumsuz olduğu gözlenmiştir. Öğrenciler matematiği sev-mekle ve değer vermekle birlikte, öğrenme süreçlerinde zorlanmaktadırlar. Sınıf seviyeleri dikkate alındığında ise matematiğe yönelik olumlu görüş ve duygularda sınıf sevi-yesi yükseldikçe azalma olduğu gözlenmiştir. Özellikle 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin matematiğe yönelik duygu ve görüşleri-nin, diğer sınıf seviyelerine nazaran olumsuz anlamda ve büyük ölçüde farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Çalışma sonuçları ile ilgili olarak öğretim ortamlarına ve yapılacak farklı akademik çalışmalara yönelik önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
In this study, the mathematical perceptions of high school students were attempted to be revealed by the technique of drawing (drawing). In the framework of the study 2017-2018 Education-Teaching year in the Army province center was studied with 682 students who were selected from high schools in the upper, middle and lower groups according to the results of the TEOG exam in 2017. The scientific method of the fact, which is one of the methods of the quality research approach, is used as the quality of study. In the interpretation of the data, the content analysis technique was used, and in this context, students' drawings were evaluated under five main categories and sixteen subcategories. The main categories mentioned are the drawings that express / contain Emotions, the drawings that contain students’ opinions / thoughts, the drawings that relate mathematics to life, the drawings that relate to the school environment and the drawings that contain mathematical objects. At the end of the study, the students saw in their drawings their views, feelings, mathematical objects, the school environment and the relationship of mathematics with life, respectively. While the opinions and emotions of students generally towards ma-tematism are positive, their opinions and emotions regarding learning processes have been observed to be negative. While students love and value mathematics, they are challenged in their learning processes. When class levels are taken into account, the positive views and emotions of mathematics have been observed as the class love rate rises. In particular, the feelings and views of the students of the 8th grade towards mathematics have been shown to differ negatively and largely from the other class levels. Recommendations were made to the teaching environments and to the various academic studies to be carried out in relation to the results of the study.
In this study, mathematical perceptions of secondary school students were tried to be revealed by using drawing technique. 682 secondary school students were chosen from the students who were attending the middle schools that are in upper, middle and lower groups in Ordu province in the 2017-2018 academic year according to the results of TEOG exam conducted in 2017. Phenomenology model was used in this qualitative design study. Content analysis technique was used to interpret the data, and student drawings were evaluated under five main categories and sixteen subcate-gories. The main categories mentioned are Drawings con-taining the emotions, Drawings containing the views of the students, Drawings containing the relation of mathematics with real life, Drawings for the school environment and Drawings containing the mathematical objects. As a result of the study, it was observed that the student drawings are related with their views on mathematics, their feelings, mathematical objects, school environment and the relation between mathematics and real life categories respectively. Although the students' views and feelings about mathematics are positive in generally, it was observed that their opinions and feelings about learning processes were negative. Alt-hough students love and value mathematics, they have difficulty in learning processes. When the grade levels were taken into consideration, it was observed that the positive opinions and feelings about mathematics decreased as the grade level increased. Besides the emotions and opinions of 8th grade students towards mathematics differ largely and negatively in comparison to other grade levels. Sugges-tions have been made for the teaching environments and further academic studies.
