Bu çalışmanın amacı, kentsel yaşamın sunduğu boğucu ve stresli durumuyla başa çıkmaya yönelik hobi bahçesi ile meşgul olmanın, sosyolojik ve psikolojik etkilerini saha çalışması yaparak ortaya koymaktır. Çalışma, nitel yönteme dayalı görüşme tekniği ile elde edilen verilere dayanmaktadır. Araştırmanın deseni fenomenolojidir. Amaçlı örneklem tekniği kapsamında, hobi bahçeciliğinde daha önce deneyim sahibi olan 16 kişi araştırmaya katılımcı olarak seçilmiştir. Katılımcıların, Iğdır Üniversitesi çalışanı olması, onların üniversite bünyesinde işletilen hobi bahçeciliğinde deneyim sahibi olmaları konusunda etkili olmuştur. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre, hobi bahçesi ile meşguliyetin, insanlara hem sosyolojik hem de psikolojik olarak olumlu katkı yaptığı anlaşılmaktadır. Hobi bahçesinin kullanımı ile sadece sebze, meyve ve çiçek elde edilmemekte, aynı zamanda ailelerin, yakın çevre ve iş arkadaşların bir araya gelerek sosyal aktivite ve sosyalleşme imkânı kazanılmaktadır. Bununla beraber hobi bahçelerinin, stres atma, zihinsel rahatlama ve motivasyon artırma etkisi bakımından sosyo-psikolojik ve fizyolojik etkileri olduğu saptanmıştır. Yetiştirilen ürünlerin gelişimini, büyümesini ve meyve vermesini izlemek ve tefekkür etmek, manevi huzur verici, keyif ve mutluluk verici olduğu, bu durumun ise insanın yaşam kalitesine, kişisel gelişimine ve mesleki hayatına olumlu kakılar yaptığı tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca insanlara bir şeyleri yapıp başarma ve kendini ispatlama fırsatı sunduğu ve kendine güven duygusunu artırdığı sonucuna da varılmıştır.
The aim of this study is to show out the social and psychological effects of being engaged in the hobby garden to cope with the disturbing and stressful situation of urban life by doing fieldwork. The study is based on the data obtained by the qualitative method-based conversation technique. The research is phenomenological. In the framework of the intended sampling technique, 16 people who have previously experience in hobby gardening were selected as participants in the research. Participants have been influential in being an employee of the University of Iğdır to have experience in the hobby gardening operated within the university. According to the results obtained in the study, it is clear that engaging with the hobby garden has a positive contribution to people both sociologically and psychologically. With the use of the hobby garden, it is not only possible to obtain vegetables, fruits and flowers, but it is also possible to get social activity and socialization by bringing together families, close surroundings and colleagues. However, hobbies have found their socio-psychological and physiological effects in terms of the effects of stress, mental relaxation and motivation. Monitoring and inspecting the development, growth and fruitfulness of cultivated products has been found to be spiritual peaceful, pleasant and happy, and this situation has made a positive impact on the quality of life, personal development and professional life of the person. It has also come to the conclusion that it gives people the opportunity to do and succeed and prove themselves and increases their self-confidence.
