Abstract:

The family, which is the smallest institution in the society, has a special importance in the socialization of the individual. Although each family has different communication styles, attitudes and structures, the existence of qualified children's books is an undeniable fact in introducing the child to different family structures. The aim of this research is to examine and discuss how the concept of family is reflected in children's literature. For this purpose, 10 children's books by different authors were selected and examined in the context of the concept of family. Selected children's books in the research; The concept of family has been examined in terms of family types, family relations and parental attitudes. The selected works were subjected to content analysis using the document analysis method. It has been determined that the examined children's books contain many of the family types in accordance with the change in the social structure. The authors conveyed the family types, attitudes and family relations in the society to the children's book readers through sample books.
