Abstract:

The work titled “Alevism According to Written Sources” by Doğan Kaplan focuses on the basic written sources of Alevism rather than its oral culture-based history. Based on the fact that Alevism exhibits a "closed society" feature due to social and political reasons and therefore maintains its existence based on oral culture, the author argues that there are also written products on which this verbalism is based. According to the author, the fact that Alevism has or may have written sources has been ignored. In this context, the author brought up the Commandments as the main written sources of Alevism and based on the examination of these Commandments both in terms of origin and content. The work consists of three chapters after the introduction. The author proceeded by opening a separate parenthesis in the introduction to the importance of the work, its conceptual framework, the method and sources of the research.
