Abstract:

Books are the most important tools that develop a child's imagination. In this respect, children's books should be evaluated in detail. Thus, children can be brought together with quality books in which the principle of appropriateness to the child is taken into account. In this study, the books published by YKY, Tudem, Timaş, İş Bankası and Hep Kitap publishing houses, which are among the publishers that publish the most children's books in Turkey, for children at the 5th and 8th grade levels between 2018-2020; number, translation-copyright status, number of editions, size, number of pages, country of translation, translator, illustrator, genre and theme. In the study, document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was applied. In the research, a total of 600 books were scanned with the scanning model and the data were tabulated using document analysis and descriptive analysis. In the study; publishing houses publish more books for children aged 10-11; It has been determined that some of the published books are recommended by publishers for both 5th and 8th grade students, that publishers publish more translated books than copyrighted works, that the most translated books belong to authors in the United Kingdom, and that most novels are published.
