Abstract:

The concept of the cittaslow was inspired by the concept of slow movement and emerged in Italy in 1999 with the coming together of the mayors of four small cities under the leadership of Paulo Saturnini. The aim of the cittaslow movement is to protect the identities of cities and prevent the sameness that occurs as a result of globalization. The aim of the research is to examine the relationship between the people of Eğirdir's approach to the cittaslow movement and the perception of tourism impact in the region. In the study, in which the quantitative research method was applied, a face-to-face survey was conducted for the local people in order to obtain the data. The results of the research revealed that the cittaslow movement contributed to the promotion of the region, created new business areas and increased the quality of life of the local people. In addition, it has been determined that the cittaslow status causes expensiveness in the region, increases the use of imported goods and causes some environmental problems.
