Abstract:

The aim of this study is to examine the studies on critical thinking skills in the field of mathematics education in Turkey in terms of different variables and to reveal the trends in the thematic subjects examined. In this context, 15 master's theses, 5 doctoral theses registered in the database of YÖK National Thesis Center and 10 articles published in journals indexed by ULAKBİM database were examined. These studies were examined in detail according to their publication dates, research methods, research designs, study groups, data collection tools, research results and methods used for the development of critical thinking, and analyzed with thematic content analysis method. According to the results obtained in the research; It has been seen that quantitative methods and quasi-experimental designs are used more, secondary school students are mostly preferred as the study group, and critical thinking disposition and attitude scales and skill tests are mostly used as data collection tools. It has been determined that there is a positive relationship between mathematics achievement and critical thinking skills, and that various methods and techniques used in mathematics lessons improve students' critical thinking skills.
