Abstract:

The aim of this study is to examine the environmental sensitivity and sustainability policies of textile companies in Turkey. With this review, it is aimed to reveal in which areas textile companies determine environmental sensitivity and sustainability policy and what are the elements that come to the fore in the determined policies. For this purpose, a qualitative research was carried out and the environmental sensitivity and sustainability policies of 89 textile enterprises, which are among the first 500 industrial enterprises in Turkey and produce in different fields, which are regularly announced by Istanbul Chambers of Industry (ISO) every year, were reached by using the document analysis technique. Research data is based on the official policies of businesses that they share on their websites. The obtained data were analyzed with content analysis technique under 8 main headings. Research findings showed that enterprises developed policies mostly in the fields of waste, energy, water and natural resource management. As a result of the research, some suggestions were made considering the scope and contents of environmental sensitivity and sustainability policies of textile enterprises.
