Selecting the most appropriate machine equipment has emerged as the critical issue for the success of companies In the literature various machine equipment selection procedures are developed However selecting the best equipment among many alternatives is a multi criteria decision making MCDM problem On the other hand fuzzy MCDM models in which fuzzy numbers are used instead of crisp values allows incorporating vague and uncertain information into the decision model For this reason integrated fuzzy multi criteria decision making FMCDM methodology for machine equipment selection has been proposed and a survey for metal industry firms is conducted For this purpose first of all decision criteria for CNC machines have been determined through literature review and experts’ opinions After the selection criteria of CNC are determined the weights of criteria have been calculated by applying the fuzzy AHP method The Fuzzy TOPSIS method is then employed to achieve the final ranking and to make a sensitivity analysis Four representative CNC technologies were evaluated and the most appropriate one was selected Keywords: Machine equipment fuzzy multi criteria decision making fuzzy AHP fuzzy TOPSIS
