The selection of appropriate machines is one of the most crucial decisions for a manufacturing company to develop an efficient production environment. It is important to identify the relations between machine alternatives and manufacturing strategy. Considering the specifications such as the functional requirements, quality, efficiency, cost, service and suitable machine alternatives in the market, the selection procedure of machines can be quite complicated and time consuming. The aim of this study is to guide the decision maker in selecting the suitable machine alternatives and to help a textile company for selecting the best one. This study is based on Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP). In this method, the values from the pair-wise comparison of each criterion are expressed with triangular fuzzy numbers. By using FAHP, uncertainty and vagueness from subjective perception and the experiences of the decision maker can be effectively represented and reached a more effective decision.
