Eğitimin gayesi çocuğun çevresine uyumunu temin etmek, başarılı olmasına ve hayat döngüsü içerisinde aktif roller alarak, mutlu bir birey olarak hayatına devam etmesini sağlamaktır. Eğitim hayatının ilkokul bölümünde hayat bilgisi dersi bunu gerçekleştiren ilk ders olarak karşımıza çıkar. Bu sebeple hayat bilgisi dersi yoluyla çocuğun bir yandan hayata hazırlanması, diğer yandan toplumsal bir kimlik edinmesi amaçlanır.
Birey yaşamı boyunca çevresiyle etkileşimlerde bulunur ve edinilen bu bilgi alışverişi neticesinde öğrenme faaliyetleri gerçekleştirir. Öğrenme, bireyin hayatı süresince devam eden bir faaliyettir. Kişinin öğrenme faaliyetlerini esnasında tercih ettiği yolları ifade eden öğrenme stili kavramı, öğretim faaliyetleri içerisinde önemli bir yer tutar.
Bu araştırmada, öğrencilerin öğrenimleri süresince tercih ettikleri öğrenme yolları dikkate alındığında derse yönelik tutumlarına olumlu katkılar sağlayacağı ve akademik başarılarını arttıracağı fikrinden hareketle, İlkokul 3. sınıf hayat bilgisi dersinde Dunn ve Dunn öğrenme stili modeli kullanılmıştır.
Araştırma 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim yılı II. Döneminde Adıyaman ili merkez ilçesinde bulunan bir ilkokulda öğrenim gören 3/A ve 3/C sınıflarındaki öğrencileri üzerinde öntest-sontest uygulamalı kontrol ve deney gruplu desende yürütülmüştür. Derse yönelik tutumları yönüyle grupların denk olduğunun varsayıldığı araştırmada, deney (n=30) ve kontrol (n=30) gruplarında toplam 60 öğrenci katılımı sağlanmıştır. Deney grubu ile dersler süresince Dunn ve Dunn öğrenme stili modeli kullanılarak dersler yürütülmüş, kontrol grubunda ise uygulamadaki programa yönelik yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada Hayat Bilgisi Tutum Ölçeği ve Akademik Başarı Testi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler istatistik paket programı ile incelenmiştir.
Araştırma neticesinde İlkokul 3.sınıf hayat bilgisi dersinin Dunn ve Dunn Öğrenme Stili modeli kullanılarak yürütülmesinin, öğrencilerin derse yönelik olumlu tutum geliştirmelerine ve akademik başarılarını arttırmalarına katkı sağladığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
The purpose of education is to ensure that the child adapts to his surroundings, is successful and takes active roles in his life cycle, and continues his life as a happy person. In the primary part of the education life, the life knowledge lesson comes to us as the first lesson to do this. This is why the purpose of life knowledge is to prepare the child for life on the one hand, on the other hand, to acquire a social identity.
The individual interacts with his surroundings throughout his lifetime and performs learning activities as a result of the exchange of this information acquired. Learning is an activity that continues throughout the life of the individual. The concept of learning style, which expresses the ways a person prefers during his learning activities, holds an important place in his teaching activities.
In this study, based on the idea that students will contribute positively to their class-oriented attitudes, taking into account their preferred learning methods during their studies, and enhance their academic achievements, the Dunn and Dunn learning style models were used in the Primary School’s 3rd Class Life Knowledge course.
Research 2019-2020 educational year II. In the course of the period, the students of 3/A and 3/C classes who studied in a primary school located in the central district of Namıyaman were carried out in the application control and experimental group design. The study, which assumes that groups are equal to their attitudes towards classes, provided a total of 60 students participating in the experiment (n=30) and control (n=30) groups. During the trials with the experimental group, classes were conducted using the Dunn and Dunn learning style model, and in the control group the program-oriented methods were used in the application. The study used Life Knowledge Attitude Scale and Academic Success Test. The data obtained was studied through the statistical package program.
According to the study, the course of life knowledge in the 3rd grade of the primary school, using the Dunn and Dunn Learning Style model, contributes to the development of a positive attitude towards the class and increases their academic achievements.

In this regard, Life sciences course prepares the child for life and provides them for acquiring a social identity.

This research employed Dunn and Dunn learning style model in Primary School 3rd Grade Life Sciences course based upon the idea that there would be positive changes in their attitudes towards the course by taking their preferred learning paths during their education into account.
The research was conducted with 3/A and 3/C students who learn at a primary school located within the central district of Adıyaman during the second term of 2019-2020 academic year. Pretest-posttest control and experimental group design was used in the current research. In the study, which was assumed to be equivalent in terms of attitudes towards the course, student participation was ensured in the experiment (n =30) and control (30) groups. The lessons were conducted with the experimental group through use of the Dunn and Dunn learning style model, while the traditional methods were used for the lesson in the control group. Life Sciences Attitude Scale Academic Achievement Test were deployed to measure the change in students. The data were analyzed via a statistical package program.
The research findings revealed that conducting the Primary School 3rd Grade Life Sciences course through using the Dunn and Dunn Learning Style model contributed to the development of a positive attitude towards the course and increasing their academic success the lesson.
