This article presents a new ῥοδισμός inscription found in Kulfalar near the Gevye pass in the nor-theastern territory of Nikaia. In his epitaph a certain Aur. Nikomedianos Nikomedes mentions a donation aimed at financing the annual rose festival at his grave. For this purpose he bequeathed to the village of the Geoupenanoi three plots of land (τοπάρια), the yields from which served to fi-nance the festival. Two of these plots were vineyards, the third was uncultivated. In this context the hitherto apparently unattested adjective ἐνάμπελος is used. All this information goes to show that the hilly landscape on the eastern slopes of the Sangarios to the north of Kabia (Geyve) was used for viniculture in antiquity.
