The Tanzimat Period brought about important cultural changes. The literary opposition, which began with the newspaper after the Islahat Fermanı, gained political meaning with the effects it aroused and the development of public opinion. However, it is clear that behind these meanings there is a cultural world whose literary qualities change. It can be argued that the literary works outlined aim at more than criticizing the opponents of reform or the existing reformists. This situation, unlike the suggestions seen in the explanatory document, has a significant political character from the point of view of a certain idea, community view and consciousness. The literary opposition has had a social and political function which has exceeded its technical change in terms of having an important meaning in the ideological reproduction of literature.
