While the global atmosphere of universities, including mobility of staff and students, international cross-border investment, competition issues, has been widening, the need to survive for universities brought change with it. In this context, many universities got out of their old structures based only on education, teaching and research, and they have adopted an initiative and value creator role. These universities, named as third generation universities, attract attention with their entrepreneurship. In this study, the transformation stages of universities developed by considering historical process and the concept of third generation university have been addressed. The incident of entrepreneur university developed in the light of characteristics of third generation universities has also been explained
