Memoirs are the texts that author shed light on his own life together with the social events that he witnessed. Historical reality turns into personal reality in memoirs through the author’s emotions, thoughts and dreams. Described events, introduced figures, depicted places are reflected in the text from the perspective of the author. Sometimes the author of the memoirs can complete the events that he forgot with his own imagination. Moreover, the author can convert the things that he experienced to something which is different from reality to absolve, defend or reveal himself. The fact that memoirs are exclusive and tend to fiction bring literary identity to this kind of works. Thus, the relation between memoirs within the boundaries of literature and such literary texts as story and novel based on narration must be questioned. As the author of the memoirs can benefit from the fictional world and wording of the narrative works, the author of the story and novel may also write up his works benefitting from his memories. Ultimately, in the produced texts memoirs intertwine with story and novel or vice versa. In this study, the interaction of these types will be examined with the samples identified in Turkish literature.
