Research into the frequency of negative thoughts and problem solving skills of classroom teaching students is essential due to these students future responsibilities concerning being a good model traning qualified students and developing creativness Thus the purpose of this research is to identify the frequency of automatic thoughts and problem solving skills of students in the Primary School Education Department in Çukurova University Sample of the research consists of students of Classroom Teaching Unit of Primary School Education Department Çukurova University As for the data collection Problem Solving Inventory developed by Hollan and Kendall 1980 and Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire by Heppener and Petersen 1982 were used Besides a questionnaire was designed by the researchers of this study with the purpose of specifying socio demographic variables The research results have revealed a statistically significant difference between the classes and automatic thoughts socio economic status and problem solving Moreover a significant relationship at 01 level has been found between automatic thoughts and problem solving skills
