Muş province is located at the upper Murat-Van section of East Anatolia. The province covering about 8116 sq km area is roughly located in the center of Eastern Anatolia Region. The population and development of province because of geographical location reflect the general characteristics of Eastern Anatolia Region regarding social and economic characteristics. In addition to the climate and topography conditions substantially restricting economic activities, rapidly increasing emigration is effective on the social and cultural backwardness. Indeed the province-wide emigration is generally occurs in the confined space and rural areas where agricultural productions are carried out. In addition to emigration to the big cities in Turkey in general, migration occurs to the urban centers from rural areas or even abroad. That situation leads to the infrastructure problems, especially various social, cultural and economic problems in city. In the present, the causes and consequences of emigration in the province of Muş were evaluated and solutions have been proposed to prevent migration.
