This study tries to take into consideration the intellectual and institutional development of modernization in Turkish education and theemerging new-old competition in this process from the Meşrutiyet to the Presidency in the context of the events of Reşat Nuri Güntekin's Green Night Roman. The process involves the phases of the Roman heroine, Ali Şahin, beginning with the madrasa education and including the education in Darülmuallimin and the years of teaching in the town of Sarıova.
