In this paper, which is in a descriptive scanning model, it is aimed to deter- mine the views of teachers on the effect of school culture on teaching success. The population of this study consists of 1505 secondary education teachers who are working in Elazığ downtown in 2006-2007 academic year. A sample of 320 teach- ers was selected from this population randomly. Data which were collected through the questionnaire were analyzed and interpreted by frequencies, descriptive statis- tics, variance analysis and t test methods. As a result of this study, these components of school culture have been determined to have a positive effect on teaching suc- cess; justice, accordance between the values of school and teacher, reputation for beliefs and interests, strong communication, unity of notion and aim, common deci- sion, solidarity and cooperation, sincerity and friendship, members’ positive atti- tudes, for interests and needs to be regarded, humanistic policy, existence of change and innovation. Besides, these factors within organization have been determined to have a negative effect on teaching success; lack of communication, clicks among teachers, excessive supervision, existence of anxiety and mistrust.
