The application of rational drug use has become a significant health problem in Turkey, and in the world. Determining the opinions of doctors about this problem is important to prevent existing health problems.This study was carried out in order to reveal the rational drug use viewpoints of family physicians provide service in the province of Bitlis. The data collection tool of the study was surveys and the findings analyzed by SPSS software. The universe of the study comprises actively working family doctors working at the family health centers. All willing family doctors were invited for the study, since no sample was defined. In this way, 82, 2% of all universe were reached. In the study, rational drug use viewpoints were examined in the dimensions of “Physician - Patient Relationship”, “Physician - Treatment Arrangement Relationship” and “Physician – Drug Knowledge Relationship”. In order to assess the reliability of the questionnaire that used in the study, the Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency coefficient value was examined and was found as 0.87. Independent Samples T-Test and One-way ANOVA test were used in the analysis of the collected data. Accordingly, there was no significant difference between rational drug use viewpoints of participants and gender, age, professional experience, average number of drugs written in the prescription, post-graduate professional training, and rational drug use training. Lastly it is found that, there was a positive correlation between the number of daily patient examinations and the rational drug use viewpoint of participants, and a negative relationship between the quantile of prescribing and the rational drug use viewpoints.
