Objective: This research was planned descriptively to investigate the health promoting behaviours and the factors affecting them of students attending to stay at Celal Bayar University Girl Student Dormitory and not related health education. Material and Methods: Research was carried out with total 288 students who not related health education, accepted to participate in research and who were present in the dormitory between the dates of 15 February- 15 March 2004, stay at Celal Bayar University Girls Students Dormitory (total 624). Data were collected through a questionnaire containing individual traits and a Health Promoting Life-Style (HPLP) used to measure health promoting behaviours. Findings: The mean age of girls students was 20.72 1.57 their overall mean scores of Healthy Life-Style Behaviours were at medium level (120.17± 15.83) and when compared to other subgroup they received the lowest score from health responsibility subgroup (20.60±5.32).and higher score from interpersonal support subgroup (21.48±3.95). Their classroom student numbers increased and the difference in between was highly significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: At university, girls student who not related health education to gain health promoting behaviours, health training programs should be established and implemented.
