Özet:

Problem situation: Health, social environment is affected by the phenomenon. According to modern views, the individual with the social environment is taken as a whole. One of the most important factors affecting the social environment in which it is the culture of the community. Every society has its own unique beliefs and traditions. Prior to taking health services to the community to know the community well, in the field of health needs, expectations and drive towards the service of their response is necessary to uncover the causes. The aim of the study: This study is planned in order to determine womens’ traditional believes and practices concerning pregnancy, labor and care of newborns. Method: 150 womens coming in Çankırı State Hospital consisted our material, these women are applied for the questionnaires between January and February in 2008. The analysis at data is assessed by using SPSS 15.0 programme. Findings and conclusions: The average age of the women in the study 32.2±6.8 and 90.7% housewives, 52.7% have been identified as the primary school graduates. The sample covered the women's 74.7% 'have babies arson had 31.8% to the soil surrounding, 76.7% CPC in salt, 74% baby face, a yellow scarf crust, and 46.7% of babies mentor to or someone who knows more has, 69.3% of forty in order to remove the mother and the baby they were washed together. Recommendations: Harmful beliefs and practices existing in the community reveal different patterns to be made in the research community should be informed about the consequences and harmful practices.
