Abstract:

Dictionaries play an important role in the preservation and transmission of language and culture. Although there are certain criteria for lexicography, the purpose of writing the work and the social conditions are effective in the form and content of the work. The fact that all kinds of subjects can be handled in verse in classical Turkish literature is also reflected in the dictionary type. The first examples of verse dictionaries aiming at teaching language through poetry in Classical Turkish literature are seen in the 15th century. These dictionaries aim to facilitate language teaching, to teach aruz prosody and literary arts alongside words. Most of the verse dictionaries written in our literature are Arabic-Turkish and Persian-Turkish bilingual dictionaries. There are also trilingual dictionaries written in Arabic-Persian-Turkish. Although few, verse dictionaries in Armenian-Turkish, French-Turkish, Bosnian-Turkish were also written. The Arabic-Turkish verse dictionary that we are working on is included in a verse dictionary magazine. It is understood from the language features that it was written before the 17th century. In this study After giving information about the form, content, and language features of the work, the text of the work is given.
