Demirden Leblebi: Girit Ayvalık'a Yerleşen Girit Mübadilleri

Abstract:

Makalede 1923'te gerçekleşen Türk-Yunan Nüfus Mübadelesinin ardından Ayvalık'ta yaşanan sorunlar ele alınacaktır. Makalede öncelikle Ayvalık ve Girit'in tarihi kısaca özetlenecektir. Ayvalık'ın seçilmesinin nedeni mübadele öncesinde kasabanın nüfusunun tamamen Rumlardan oluşmasıdır. Makalede özellikle Girit mübadilleri ele alınmaktadır çünkü mübadele sonrasında Ayvalık'ta yeni toplumsal yapıya uyum sağlamada en çok zorluk çeken onlar olmuştur. Midilli ve Girit mübadillerinin birlikte hareket etmeleri, birbirlerinden kız alıp vermeleri ve kendilerini 'Ayvalık'ın yerlisi' olarak tanımlamaları aşamalarında da sorunlar yaşanmıştır.
