Abstract:

Islamophobia, which has become a stream against the Islamic religion and the Muslims and is defined as "Islamic fear", has now become a world-wide threatening disease. Islamophobia, mainly the discrimination used in the internal and external policies of the Western countries, including the United States, is used in the international field as a method of self-privacy. It is impossible to talk about a single type of Islamophobia. There are Islamophobia practices in India, Thailand, China, the continent of Europe, and the United States. Although the reasons are different, the common point is Islamic fear-Islamic hostility, and Islamophobia in Western democracies is increasing every day. Islamophobia increased with the attacks of 11 September 2001 and became the center of Western foreign policy. After this history, Muslims in the Western countries have been discriminated, even if they are their own citizens. Muslim migrants and refugees in the western world, including the United States, have been targeted, excluded and self-interested. As a result of the Islamophobia-focused Western policy, untolerant, racist, nationalist right-wing parties have emerged and strengthened in Europe. If this continues, world peace will be in danger and Huntington’s “Civilization Conflict” thesis will be justified. The extreme right-wing and racist movements caused by increasing Islamophobia in recent years have rapidly gained power throughout the world. This study aims to identify the causes of Islamophobia, by examining the historical and political origins of Islamophobia that threatens world peace, and also to identify the methods to be used in the fight against Islamophobia.
