One of the most important indicators of democracy is the degree of participation and influence of people in governance and decision-making processes. There is no connection between democracy and political participation. The main actor in this relationship is the “People”. The people participate in politics either by staying within the system or by opposing the system. The most effective method of participation that occurs by staying within the system is the "election" and the most important actor is the choice. But voters can show different attitudes and behaviors in the political participation processes. This can be influenced by some factors in the process. These factors are formed according to the material/spiritual elements that the individual possesses and surrounds, while they can also influence and direct the individual’s political preference. This study has tried to explain what are the factors affecting the individual's political participation, whether they are really effective and in what direction the effect occurs, with the field research conducted in the province of Chankırı. For this purpose, the concept of political participation and the factors that influence it in general were first addressed. Then the findings of the work in the Chankırı Provincial Center were evaluated in relation to socio-economic variables such as gender, age, education, income, civil status and profession. After all, a series of results have been achieved from here.
