Çukurova bölgesinde, tarih boyunca hayvancılığa bağlı konargöçer yaşam biçimi hüküm sürmüştür. Bölgenin iklim şartlarından dolayı mevsime bağlı olarak kışın Çukurova’ya inen aşiretler, yaz geldiğinde develeriyle serin olan yaylalara göçmek zorunda kalmışlardır. Osmanlı Devleti döneminde başlayan, Cumhuriyet’in kuruluşuyla devam ettirilen iskân politikasına bağlı olarak tarıma, bunun sonucunda da yerleşik hayata geçişle birlikte deve eski önemini kaybetmiştir. Tarımda, ulaşımda ve taşımacılıkta makineleşmeyle de deveye olan ihtiyaç tamamen ortadan kalkmıştır. Çukurova, konargöçerlik kültürü yanında âşıklık geleneğinin de canlı olarak yaşadığı bölgelerden birisi olmuştur. Bu iki kültür iç içe geçerek, birbirini besleyerek varlığını korumuştur. Çukurovalı âşıklardan konargöçerlik kültürünü bizzat yaşayan, bu geleneği yaşayanların soyundan gelen ya da yerleşik kültürde (köy, kasaba ya da şehirler) yaşamakla birlikte söz konusu geleneği gözlemleyen, duyan, dinleyen, yazılı kaynaklardan okuyan âşıklar vardır. Bölge âşıklarının şiirleri incelendiğinde, konargöçer yaşam biçiminin önemli bir kültürel öğesi olan devenin çeşitli yönleriyle şiirlere konu edildiği görülmektedir. Bu makale ile, Çukurovalı otuz iki âşığın şiirinde devenin; çeşitleri (tülü deve, yoz deve), yaşına göre aldığı isimler (köşek, dorum), rengi (boz, sarı, mor, kara deve), çan ve süslemeleri, yük hayvanı oluşu, görünüşü, yürüyüşü, deyim ve atasözü, halk inanışı ve benzetme öğesi gibi pekçok yönden işlendiği tespit edilmiştir.

There are lovers who live the culture of conjuration from the Chukurovans, who live this tradition from the descendants of those who live this tradition or who live in the settled culture (the village, the city or the cities) while observing, hearing, listening, reading from written sources. When the poems of the neighborhood lovers are studied, it appears that poems are subjected to various aspects of the gender, which is an important cultural element of the conjuring way of life. With this article, it has been found that in the poem of the Thirty-two lovers of the Chukurovalı, the devine is processed in many ways, such as varieties (tulu devine, corrupt devine), the names it takes according to age (cock, dorum), the color (boz, yellow, brown, black devine), the clock and the decorations, the formation of the load animal, appearance, walking, speech and speech, the popular belief and the comparison element.
